4. What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation Policies

For Singles

If, you cancel less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment, the fees generated by the missed appointment still remain due. If, you pre-paid the session, then you will forfeit that session with no rescheduling or refund.

For those with the Monthly or 8-Hour packages

If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled session, the missed session will be deducted from the total sessions of your package.

If, you contact me with more than 24 hours notice, we can reschedule your missed appointment. All rescheduled sessions will need to take place the same week as your canceled session; it may not be transferred to future weeks. Certain weeks may not have available time-slots for you to reschedule an appointment even with more than 24 hours notice. So, if rescheduling is needed, be sure to make it known as soon as possible in order for your scheduling needs to be best met.

5. Do you offer group tutoring?

Yes. I offer tutoring for up to two people per session. This works well if they are in the same class.

I take turns helping each student. As one student works on what we discussed, then I will help the other. Also, each student can learn from listening to me discuss math problems with the other student.

The fee for this is $70 per hour ($35 per student).

9.  What age group do you tutor?

I’ve tutored students that are 11 years old to students in their 60s. The range of math classes are between basic math to calculus 2 and statistics. This would include nursing students and graduate students that have classes with a math  component within this range.

10.  My teacher gave me a Review Sheet for next week’s test. Will I be able to learn everything I need to know in an hour session?

If, you understand the majority of the material on the Review Sheet and just need help with some problems, then it’s possible. If, most of the Review Sheet is really hard, then one hour won’t be long enough.

Our brains can only absorb so much new material at one time. In general, students need time to do plenty of examples and give their brains time to absorb the material.  If, we cover too much “new” material at one time, then it will be next to impossible to retain it for the test.

11.  Math came easily to me before this class and I really don’t know what to do. Can you help me?

Yes. I can help you.

Often, when math has come easily to students, they haven’t needed to learn how to study for math. When the time to study comes, I can help a student learn how to study for math in a way that fits their learning style.

12.  I don’t have much time to study math. Can you help me to just know it?

Math takes time studying. There is no easy pill to take and then we get it. I can help you understand concepts and even show you different ways to do the problems that might make more sense to you. Also, I can help you with  study techniques and math anxiety.

13.  Can you just do the homework for me? I’ll watch, so I’ll learn as you do the homework problems.

I can do problems similar to your homework. And I often will do similar problems to help you understand the process. I can not do a student’s homework.

Math needs a hands-on learning process to really get it. Having correct homework that someone else has done will not help a student learn the material nor will it help them to pass the test. Also, this falls under academic dishonesty.

14.  How does tutoring work? or Will you look at my homework/Review Sheet and tell me if it is correct?

Usually, I will have students explain their process to me. We can go problem by problem. If, there is a mistake with the problem, I will ask questions to help you figure out the answer. And, if needed, then I will do sample problems.

Sometimes, students will have the correct answer, but they really aren’t sure. As students explain their work step-by-step, with me occasionally asking questions, students generally grow more confident and sure of themselves and their math knowledge. Then, if students are still stuck, we can work on similar questions until they feel comfortable with it.
